Sell Diamonds South Africa

A few quick questions to send you a fair, transparent diamond quote via WhatsApp.

Step 1 of 7
What are you selling?
Do you have a grading certificate?
Why this matters: A GIA or IGI certificate is required for us to purchase the diamond. Without one, we can only value and buy the gold or platinum setting. If you're unsure, keep going — we'll guide you.
No certificate — here's what we can do
We'll buy the gold or platinum setting Without a GIA or IGI grading certificate, we cannot purchase the diamond itself — the certificate is essential for accurate grading and valuation against international market rates.

However, we can still help you. We'll buy the gold or platinum setting at its full gold value, based on weight and karat. If you later locate the certificate, contact us again — the diamond can be purchased separately.

Please fill in your contact details on the next step and we'll take it from there.
Approximate carat weight of the diamond?
Not sure? A standard solitaire engagement ring is typically 0.5–1ct. A 1ct round brilliant diamond is about 6.5mm in diameter. If you have a GIA or IGI certificate, the exact weight is listed on it — just check the report.
What shape is the diamond?
How would you like to sell?

GIA vs IGI — What's the difference?

Both GIA and IGI are internationally recognised diamond grading authorities. Both are accepted by Sell My Gold. Here's what each means:

How your diamond is valued — the 4 Cs

Diamond value is assessed against four internationally standardised criteria. Your GIA or IGI certificate lists all four:

Sell Diamonds South Africa — FAQ

Yes. We require a valid GIA or IGI grading certificate to purchase a diamond. Without a certificate, we cannot determine the grade and value accurately. If you have a diamond without a certificate, we can still purchase the gold or platinum setting at full gold value.
Both GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and IGI (International Gemological Institute) are internationally recognised grading bodies assessing diamonds on the 4 Cs — carat, colour, clarity and cut. GIA is widely considered the most stringent global standard. IGI is equally accepted and commonly issued for both natural and lab-grown diamonds. Both are accepted by Sell My Gold.
Diamond value is assessed on the 4 Cs from your certificate — carat weight, colour grade (D–Z), clarity grade (Flawless–Included), and cut quality — measured against current international diamond market rates. The gold or platinum setting is valued separately based on weight and karat, independent of the diamond.
Yes. We buy diamonds set in gold or platinum jewellery. The diamond and metal are valued separately — the diamond requires a GIA or IGI certificate, while the setting is valued by gold weight and karat regardless of certificate status.
